"When is my CPD due?" doesn't have one answer in Australia — it depends on which state issued your licence, and in some cases on your own licence anniversary. Here's how each cycle actually works.
Four different kinds of CPD year
How the clock starts
Most states use one of these four patterns. Knowing which one applies to you is the first step to working out your actual deadline.
1 April – 31 March
WA's new points model runs on its own fixed annual window from April 2026, with a longer one-off transition year covering January 2026 to March 2027.
Set by your own licence
Queensland's CPD year runs 12 months from the issue-date anniversary of your own licence or registration — genuinely different for every licensee.
Complete by 30 April
Tasmania runs a single annual CPD cycle that every licensed property agent completes by 30 April — the same statewide deadline ahead of renewal.

Why this catches people out
Common timing traps
- Working across multiple states means juggling multiple cycles at once — your NSW deadline and your QLD deadline are very unlikely to land on the same date.
- Because QLD's CPD year is personal to your own licence anniversary, no generic calendar — including this page — can tell you your exact deadline. Check your licence record or use our checker.
- Victoria currently has two parallel timelines: REIV's member CPD scheme running now, and the separate statutory scheme starting 1 April 2027 — completing one doesn't satisfy the other.
- A licence upgrade, restoration or change of category can reset or shift the date your CPD cycle is measured from.
